Our objectives are:-
- To continue to keep in close liaison with all ICD Manufacturers in the U.K. The companies involved have always offered their support and information about their devices,
which they manufacture. We then pass on valuable information to patients and their families.
- To continue to pursue close liaison with the Cardiac Management Committee of the university Hospital of North Staffordshire in order to promote the benefits of our Support
Group to patients and their families. This is with a view to developing closer working relationshipd with the Cardiac Wards in order to make patient contact before and after
implantation.
- Recruiting patients/families to our group in order to raise awareness of the benefits to themselves of our Support Group in order to increase the numbers of our members,
so that a better service may be maintained.
- To continue to provide up-to-date information on defibrillators
- To make more patients and their families aware of what to do when a defibrillator delivers a therapy, i.e. when to call a doctor, ambulance and to record the events leading
up to the shock. Information on 'keeping calm' until professional, expert help arrives. See our Telephone Helpline page for ICD patients only.
- To recruit more volunteers for Telephone Helpline and Hospital.
